Hohohoooo! Nooo, it's not Santa Claus, It's the peruvian delegation bringing joy for the Christmas eve.

We promised to return to Ventanilla and we did! This time, we went with some of the Swy16 delegation. Thanks to the Municipality of Callao we didn't have any problem with the transportation because they lent us 3 buses, so we could arrive on time. First at the eldery home, where they were already sitting waiting for us, ansious to know what we had prepared for them.

They could enjoy some of the dances and zampoña music we will present in the Nipponmaru for our National Presentation. And of course sing with them chrissmass charols

But it would not end just here, we also went to see the children in Pachacutec and had a great time singing and dancing with them, only this time they were the ones who taught us how to play de zampoña.

Finally they could all recieved their Chrissmass presents, little panetones and chocolate milks. While we recieved from them the greatest gifts of all. Their smiles of happyness and a tender warm in our hearts.

National Youth Voluntary Program

The "Secretaría Nacional de la Juventud" (National Office of Youth) launched this Friday the "National youth voluntary program" in a colorful event full of energy of many young people.

Important figures as representatives from the UN and the Minister of work were invited to present this program that is intended to build bridges between organizations, and to create a synergy work when a helping hand is needed.

The SWYAA could not miss this great event that gathered other youth organizations as the Boy scouts, the Red cross, universities, schools, etc. All of us sharing the same thought:

"We may not recieve a monetary reward , but it is the smile of the people we help that fills our heart and gives us hope that a change is possible. That is the best reward of all"

Hi everyone! We have great news for you!

Last week the National Leaders of the participating countries gathered in an assembly in Tokyo- Japan where they discussed about many topics for the coming edition of the SWY program. They came up with the theme for the 21st program which is: ENJOY!

You may be wondering: Why "enjoy"?

Well it means more than having fun, it's actually an acronym :

縁Joy

The first character comes from a Japanese word which means "Precious relationship, connection, and chance brought by destiny". Each participant has something to offer to the global society, and this "EN" will bring us together to expand our friendship circle in the future, so that we can work toward a better future. How? With JOY! Which is a Journey, a Journey Of Youth.

Hello to all PY’s soon to be on board! My name is Mariana, I’m 22 years old and I’m currently studying anthropology, so I travel a lot inside Peru doing field work, which I really enjoy. I also like all kinds of music, theatre and innovating in cuisine. The first time I heard about the SWY program I couldn’t believe it, it’s just too good to be true! Recently I organized a Latin American Forum on Anthropology, so one of my expectations for this program is to extend the Latin American network we created in this event, to involve the other participating youths from around the world and share information, documentaries and to be informed on current events on each country, because sometimes global medias can un-inform, instead of inform. I know for sure that all the people we will have the opportunity to meet on board are looking for making a difference in this world, so we will all learn and discover new things from each other and from the program as a whole that will definitely enrich us - and we will have lots of fun while we are at it!

I'm going to tell you more about me...I love the music, specially the music from my country, in my free time I play Afro-peruvian musical instruments, the Afro-peruvian music transmit us the story of the slavery of Peru during de Colony's time and when you listen or dance this music, you feel something special inside on you because it's very funny!!!. For another, I listen another kinds of music like salsa and I really love to dance it!. I I hope I can make a lot of friends on board and learn more about them. I'm really sure that it will be an unforgetable experience!!!!!!!!!! =)

I participated 5 years ago in SWY 16, this was such an amazing experienced and I learned so much from life and the world that I always wanted to return older and as NL, and here I am… living my dream… and trying to do my best to guide successfully the Peruvian delegation through this amazing experience. I'm so exited about sailing in companion with people from all over the world learning from it's cultures. About me? Well I do really love to travel, anywhere, I believe that desire is most important reason to travel. We will share very soon many histories from our trips. Apart from that? I do really like to talk about architecture, specially urbanism and development projects. Any way I just wanted to say a big hello to everyone. And say that we are preparing as much as we can for this program.

Last Sunday (September 28^th) the Peruvian delegation participated in its first official activity: a lunch for 500 kids in Pachacútec, Ventanilla, in the outskirts of Lima.

The day began early: the eleven PY’s, our National Leader Oscar Malaspina and the President of the SWYAA Peruvian Section, Pepe Sano, met before 9.00 a.m. in order to start our way to Ventanilla. Only eight days after knowing each other, this volunteer activity was meant not only to help and entertain the people of Ventanilla, but to strengthen the bonds among the members of our delegation.

When we arrived, we met the members of the NGO “Gotita de agua en el desierto” (Water droplet in the desert) and the musical duet “Deux marches”, conformed by Chieko Maki (violin) and Miyack (accordion). Before their presentation in a little chapel, the PY’s held our first public presentation. With Czarina leading (she’s a primary school teacher, therefore she has all the experience in this subject), we sang and danced for the children gathered there, enjoying their reactions and having a lot of fun.

While the artists offered their concert, we served 500 meals for the children, who came to pick them up afterwards. We took some photographs and played with the kids. The best reward was seeing them happy, receiving their meals and having fun with our games.

To finish the activity, we went to an elderly home to have lunch and we had another short presentation, where we danced and sang again with a different audience (it was a real challenge!). Finally we went back to the city, very satisfied with the activity and with a lot of plans and ideas for future presentations.

Our twelve ambassadors were announced after a stern selection process conducted by the Japanese Embassy, and they are now working towards their participation on SWY21.

Las charlas informativas

Con mucho éxito se llevaron a cabo las dos charlas informativas organizadas por la Asociación Peruana de Ex Participantes del Barco de la Juventud Mundial.

La primera de ellas se llevó a cabo el jueves 24 de julio, y contó con la asistencia de más de 40 personas. Agradecemos a todos ellos por su asistencia, así como a Miryam Justo, Naomi Hozumi y José Sano por su participación como expositores.

La segunda charla informativa -esta vez con más de 50 asistentes- fue el sábado 02 de agosto, y participaron como expositores los Ex-PYs Maria Inés Vílchez, Oscar Malaspina. Nuestra gratitud a ellos también.

En ambas oportunidades, los asistentes pudieron enterarse en profundidad acerca del programa, así como absolver todas sus dudas a través de las preguntas a los expositores.

Desde el Japón fueron enviadas las fotografías que componen la muestra itinerante "Global Photo Contest", una selección de las piezas ganadoras de un concurso mundial en el que participaron los ExPYs de todo el mundo.

El Barco de la Juventud Mundial

Bienvenido a la página de la (futura) Delegación Peruana del Barco de la Juventud Mundial.

12 peruanos serán seleccionados para participar en este programa de intercambio cultural internacional organizado y patrocinado por el Gobierno del Japón.

Objetivos del Programa

El propósito del Programa del Barco de la Juventud Mundial es ampliar la visión de la juventud japonesa, para promover la mutua comprensión y amistad entre los jóvenes japoneses y extranjeros, además de fomentar el espíritu de cooperación internacional y la capacidad de llevarlo a la práctica, y contribuir a la formación de jóvenes con capacidad de liderazgo en diversas áreas de la comunidad internacional.

Asimismo, este programa desea alcanzar la formación de una red y promover actividades conjuntas entre los jóvenes del mundo, al brindar la oportunidad de cohabitar y compartir actividades a bordo del Barco, para efectuar una contribución internacional visible desde la perspectiva del desarrollo del recurso humano.

Actividades a bordo del barco

El M/S Nippon Maru es un crucero de 200 metros de eslora y 8 pisos, rentado por el Gobierno Japonés exclusivamente para este programa. Las actividades a bordo son programadas y coordinadas por el staff organizador. Una vez iniciado el programa, los participantes son divididos en grupos de letras, en cada grupo hay un Líder Nacional (ahora líder de grupo), 10 participantes japoneses, y un participante de cada país invitado. Las actividades a bordo del barco son muy variadas, e incluyen:

Course Discussion: Es la actividad medular del programa; combina charlas magistrales, discusiones de grupo, talleres y actividades en los puertos. Los participantes son asignados a uno de los 6 cursos que se programan: Voluntariado, Desarrollo Juvenil, Medio Ambiente, Naciones Unidas, Educación, Información y Medios (cursos por definir). Cada uno de ellos, a cargo de un advisor y un facilitator.

Group Activities: Son actividades diversas, conducidas por los Group Leaders, y tienen como objetivo propiciar el intercambio entre los participantes del grupo.

Club Activities: Son actividades extra curriculares, en la forma de talleres, donde los participantes aprenden de los propios participantes. Se programan clubes como Tambores Japoneses, Ceremonia de Té, Artes Marciales, Coro, Bailes Africanos, Salsa y Merengue, Idiomas, Música e instrumentos, y un largo etcétera.

National Presentations: Cada delegación debe presentar un show de 1 hora, donde presenta lo más representativo de su país. Es usual mostrar danzas folklóricas, la historia y atractivos turísticos, pero también aspectos contemporáneos como la economía y política.

Sports and Recreation: Actividades de deporte y recreación son programadas por un comité conformado por los propios participantes.

Actividades en los puertos visitados

El programa incluye actividades oficiales en el Reino de Tonga y Nueva Zelandia. Éstas incluyen visitas de cortesía, actividades de intercambio con jóvenes locales, visitas a instituciones relacionadas con los temas de los Course Discussions, actividades turísticas y, dependiendo del programa, tiempo libre para actividades personales.

Costos del programa

El programa es auspiciado íntegramente por el Gobierno del Japón, la cobertura incluye el pasaje aéreo de ida y vuelta a Japón, el alojamiento y la alimentación durante todo el programa, así como las actividades oficiales programadas.

Los participantes deberán costear un seguro internacional de accidentes, así como sus gastos personales durante el tiempo libre en Japón y los puertos visitados. Deberán asumir los gastos relacionados a su presentación nacional, uniforme de la delegación, obsequios para las visitas protocolares, y cualquier sobrepeso en el equipaje. En el caso de ser descalificados del programa, deberán reembolsar los gastos de repatriación desde el puerto en que desembarquen.

Requisitos para postular

Ser peruano de nacimiento y residir en el Perú
Tener entre 18 y 30 años de edad
Dominio del inglés a nivel avanzado (idioma oficial del programa)
Ser presentado por alguna institución relacionada a la juventud (incluye universidades)
Participar (o haber participado) activamente en alguna institución relacionada a la juventud
Estar dispuesto a participar en todas las actividades preparatorias como delegación
Buena salud física y mental

Fecha Límite

Las instituciones deberán enviar su terna de candidatos a la Embajada del Japón hasta el viernes 8 de agosto de 2008.
